Edge-Core, the professional network solution provider, announces today that Edge-Core won the upgrade project of the largest Postal Service in Taiwan and its Gigabit Ethernet Layer 2 Switches are selected to upgrade its postal and banking service network.



The Need


Taiwan is a logistics hub for several international courier and package delivery companies, including Federal Express, DHL and UPS. This postal service has over 1,300 post offices widely distributed throughout Taiwan and each office provides the following services:




  • Letter Delivery, express post, and domestic and international package delivery


  • Banking and basic life insurance services


  • Online Shopping mall for stamps and various merchandises


In this upgrade project, the network infrastructures of 110 post offices need facility upgrade to deal with the increasingly heavy workload of postal and banking services, and thus a high-speed, reliable, highly secure network switching solution that can easily maintained and managed, is required.


 


The Solution


In this project, Edge-Core L2/L4 Gigabit Ethernet Standalone Switch, ES4524D, is chosen because it fits all the requirements with its superior performance at the edge and next generation network capabilities. Featuring 20 RJ-45 10/100/1000 ports and 4 combo Gigabit RJ-45/SFP ports, ES4524D supports IPv6 routing hardware for maximum performance. It is deployed with versatile cutting-edge IPv6 technologies which provide flexibility in allocating addresses and routing traffic. The optional Redundant Power Supply provides uninterrupted power and ensures continuous availability. In addition, ES4524D provides advanced security features including SSL, Web Management Encryption, RADIUS and TACACS+ to protect data communication and ensure data privacy, which is critical for the banking system.


 


Each unit of Edge-Core L2/L4 Gigabit Ethernet Standalone Switch, ES4524D, is installed in each post office as the edge switch to provide link to workstations, external tape drives and Wireless Access points with a PoE device. The switch delivers wire-speed switching performance on all gigabit ports in a robust 48Gbps switch fabric, and therefore it’s the perfect solution to handle the heavy traffic associates with intensive, interactive banking and delivery transactions in these 110 post offices.


 


Introducing Edge-Core L2/L4 Gigabit Ethernet Standalone Switch – ES4524D


The Edge-Core ES4524D, are Gigabit Ethernet Layer 2/4 Standalone switches featuring 24 ports (with 20 RJ-45 10/100/1000 ports and 4 combo Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45/SFP ports). The switches also offer advanced software features such as QoS, Q-in-Q and IPv6 capabilities to deliver intelligent and advance service at the edge. The whole stack can be managed as a single entity with a single IP address.
